Three Sisters THeatre Co.
Comprehensive Brand
Objectives:
Three Sisters Theatre Co. is a brand new feminist theatre company doing something genuinely gutsy: bringing bold, unapologetically progressive productions to Grand Junction, Colorado. For anyone not from here, Grand Junction is a deeply red community. Starting a theatre company explicitly centered on women and LGBTQ+ voices here isn’t a niche play. It’s a statement. They needed a brand that understood that, something with enough conviction to hold the weight of what they’re actually doing, while still being warm, inviting, and built to grow a real community around it.
Solutions:
This was a ground-up build. No existing identity, no existing site, nothing to work from except a clear mission and a lot of fire. I built the full visual identity from scratch, then designed and developed their website on WordPress with Elementor, including a complete events and ticketing system so they could actually sell seats and manage shows without duct tape and a prayer.
The Process:
The name does a lot of work if you let it. Three Sisters points in a few directions at once: the astronomical, the mythological, the theatrical. I leaned into all of it. The logo mark pulls from the Three Sisters star formation and weaves in the Greek goddess tradition and the visual language of classic theatre masks. It’s rooted in something ancient and dramatic without being precious about it.
The color palette came from an unexpected place. My wife took a photo of mossy trees in the mountains, and that image had everything the brand needed: deep, organic, a little mysterious. Witchy in the best way. Earthy without being dull. I pulled the palette directly from that photo and it gave the brand a richness and specificity that’s hard to manufacture. It feels alive because it came from something real.
For the website, the priority beyond looking great was function. A theatre company lives and dies by whether people can find shows, buy tickets, and actually show up. I built out a full events management and ticketing system so the Three Sisters team could run that themselves without needing a developer every time they announce a new production.
